Has anyone purchased an Internet business? (NOT started one)?

I am very interested in purchasing an Internet business (preferrably an Adsense website not an an online retail store). I want to meet people who have purchased online businesses, and I want to know the exact plan you took to successfully purchase one.

I bought an internet travel business from YTB. Let's see the steps that I took to buy one...

1st: I listened to an audio presentation.
2nd: spent a couple of days discussing it with my business associate.

3rd: Talked it over with my wife

4th: Spent two months researching it. Internet, etc.

5th: Sat down with my wife and business associate and wrote down what I wanted to accomplish with the business and my plan for achieving that.

6th: Got out my credit card, went to their associate's site, signed up and ten minutes later started selling travel.
