Selling Online - What should I look for in a piece of ecommerce software?

I have been selling online for sometime now. I have found that my ecommerce software provider is letting me down as there are a few issues with my payment gateway. I am looking to move across to a new ecommerce provider, would anyone be able to suggest a decent piece of ecommerce software to use?

There are so many different ecommerce packages out there that I am getting confused. One of the major factors when making my decision will be Google Checkout, as my new eccomerce software must be able to integrate with this.

I have also noticed that several suppliers offer free trials. What are the benefits of these?

You could try doing what I do. I started selling with online stores about a year ago and with a bit of work I make enough now to live off with it. I work around 5 hours a day though (but I take weekends off) With a couple stores selling jewelry and clothes I make about 4k/month, which is enough to live off here in Canada.
