Depending on the quality of the web-design and eCommerce code you could expect to pay anything in a range from a few hundred dollars for doing almost all the development yourself to maybe 30 thousand for a very high-end custom design webstore. I have even heard of some sites created for larger companies that are well beyond a hundred thousand dollars, and which cost 2 or three thousand per month to operate.

That said;
Typically -to be successful- you should realisticaly expect that creating an ecommerce store will require about the same investment cost as setting up in a real world (physical) store-front.
