Website tutorial part 1
Are you a Myspace layout site owner, or someone else who wants to create a website of your own? Read below to find out how you can make one!
Note before you read any further: This tutorial is on creating a free website, so you will not have your own domain name. It will be something like www.mysite.blogger.com instead. You can still have a site with a good design, blog posts, comments, etc. and all that good stuff.
Creating a tutorial for having your own domain would be much longer and more complicated (It would involve other tutorials on hosting, FTP, Wordpress, Winzip, etc. and it would be way too time-consuming). This tutorial should be very easy to follow.
STEP 1: Go to www.blogger.com.
Click on 鈥淐reate Your Blog Now.鈥?on the orange arrow.
You now need to create a Google account. Enter an email address, password, display name (usually your first name, unless you鈥檇 rather use something else), the word verification, and check the box if you accept Blogger鈥檚 terms of service.
Click on 鈥淐ontinue鈥?on the orange arrow.
STEP 2: Choose a name for your website.
In where it says 鈥淓nter a title for you blog鈥? choose the name of the blog. It can be anything you want, from something as simple as 鈥淢y Site鈥?to a more specific name like 鈥淩ocking Myspace Layouts鈥?
Now choose the blog address, the URL for your site. When people want to visit your site, they鈥檒l type this into the address bar. An example of a URL with Blogger is www.mysite.blogger.com. Click the link that says 鈥淐heck Availability鈥?to see if the URL you want is already taken. You may need to choose another name until you have one that鈥檚 available.
Then click 鈥淐ontinue.鈥?br>
STEP 3: Choose a template for your blog.
Now you get to pick a design for your website. These are just the basic ones that come with the site. There are tons of websites that offer Blogger templates for download and use so these are not the only ones! You can change your template and customize it later, but for now, pick one to use.
Click 鈥淐ontinue鈥?
Your website is created! Click 鈥淪tart Posting鈥?to begin adding content to your site.
STEP 4: Adding content to your site.
All of your content are going to be in the form of posts that you write. You can then link to these posts you have written from the home page to direct your readers to all your content.
Add content now by writing your first post. For example, I鈥檒l pretend I鈥檓 adding default layouts to my website.
Enter text as normal. To add an image, click the little picture icon in the toolbar and upload the picture you want from your computer by clicking 鈥渂rowse鈥?and finding the image on your computer. Click 鈥淯pload Now鈥?when you鈥檙e done.
To have codes people can copy, use the textarea code. See the screenshot below:
Once you鈥檙e done adding what you wanted, click 鈥淧ublish Post鈥?

Ok, so you have your website created. (If you don鈥檛, be sure to check out part 1 of the tutorial first). You probably want other templates to use on your site besides the basic ones. To do this, do a google search for 鈥渂logger templates鈥? You have tons of sites to choose from.
I鈥檓 going to do the tutorial as if you鈥檙e using templates from Pyzam.
STEP 1: Find a template you like, and click on 鈥淕et the Code!鈥?br>
STEP 2: Copy the code by right clicking in the box, and clicking copy to copy all the text.
STEP 3: Sign in to your Blogger account. Click on 鈥淟ayout鈥?under where it says 鈥淢anage鈥?
STEP 4: Click on where it says 鈥淓dit HTML鈥?under the 鈥淭emplate鈥?tab.
STEP 5: Select all the text currently in the scrollbox and delete it. Then paste the code you copied earlier for your layout into the box. Click 鈥淪ave Template鈥?
(Just a note鈥or some blog templates you may need to revert to the classic template for the code to work. If the template鈥檚 older the code is for before Blogger updated to a newer template.)

So, now you should have a site set up with a design that you like. The final part of the website tutorial is about monetizing your site. You can make money off your site although I鈥檓 not promising it will be a lot. For my website I use Google Adsense.
Google Adsense is a contextual ad program that shows ads related to your content. You can earn money when your visitors click these ads or visit your page. If you want,
Sign up for AdSense.. If your site is accepted, you can put the ads on your site easily by following the tutorials here. Adsense is how I monetize my site and I鈥檝e found it to work great. There are other ways to make money off your site, but since I don鈥檛 use them I can鈥檛 really recommend them.
