?'s about- thrush, gentian violet, and yeast infection?

the babies tongue is white but not the rest of his mouth or my nipples. when he latches on he sometimes spits the breast right back out. my nipples hurt when he latches on the worst and sometimes they hurt a little during and after he nurses. i assumed all this was normal and since we don't have symptoms of thrush assumed we were okay. but i've read on feb 07 that sometimes what i've described is thrush

i was lurking on the feb07 board and they said they are treating thrush with gentian violet which is a non prescription purple dye that is kept behind the pharmacy counter. if we do have thrush it is nearly impossible for me to get to a doctor so i thought i might as well try gentian violet. does anyone know about it or how i can get it (is it at most pharmacies? how much does it cost?)

i also think i have a yeast infection and am having a hard time getting my ob to do anything about it. i was in the ER for acid reflux last monday the 19th and they did a vaginal culture but my ob office still hasnt' gotten the results 7 business days later (the ER said they would have the restults in 3 days). is the yeast infection why i might have thrush? can i just take normal monistat OTC instead of messing with my ob?

You need to get to the pediatrician. They will probably prescribe nystatin for the baby and an antibiotic for you. You can't ignore this. Thrush makes it painful for a baby to nurse and therefore they will not nurse enough.
