How to make bold-faced type with drop shadow in Adobe Illustrator?

I am new to Adobe and can't seem to figure out how to make font bold-faced. I would also like to add a drop shadow to said font. I have been trying for hours to figure it out. I have read through the tutorial and help sections, but I seem to keep coming up empty handed. I don't know if I'm just overloaded and missing a simple solution, but I am desperate. I have to get this business card design uploaded ASAP for my new business, and this is putting a serious damper on things. I would appreciate any help you can offer. Oh, in case it makes a difference, I am using version 11.0.0. Thanks!

Thanks so much, guys. The stroke feature worked fine. I actually happened to figure out the Drop Shadow feature (how I didn't before is beyond me)before I checked the second answer and I got some error. I'm going to try again, though.

to make the font bolder.. yes, u can just fill a "stroke". u can go to the "tools" window palette (the one at your left hand side and place vertically), at the bottom there is a "fill box" where u fill in the colour, underneath the "fill box" is the "fill stroke".. or go to "stroke" window palette to fill a weight & change the colour at the "Tools" palette.

alternatively u can choose the "bold" or "black" type, if the font has the family typefaces.

for the drop shadow in illustrator..
select the type or object, go to "Effect" (on the top bar), choose "stylize" then "Drop shadow"...

If you want to make changes on the drop shadow, go to "Appearance" window palette, double click on the "drop shadow", then window of your setting will prompt out, make your changes and click OK.

To make the font bold make the stroke a larger size.

As for a drop shadow, I don't think there's a effect for that like in photoshop, try playing around with gradients layered behind the text that needs the shadow.

also you could layer the same word/text in black on a layer below to actual text and lower the opacity and slightly offset it.

Just be creative!
There is no "one" right way in many cases, and this may be one of them...
