Why is it easier to point the finger at other countries?

i asked a friend of mine if he watched the opening ceremony of the olympics and he replied that he would never watch any the ceremony and support china when they oppress their people. i replied with the words "but you're okay with shopping at wal-mart." and then he replied "but that's a corporation" (like that matters). i find that its easier to talk about how "corrupt" china than it is to switch up shopping patterns and go somewhere more expensive, but boycotting a place that mistreats its employees. why are people so quick to criticize other nations while ignoring the inaccuracies and hypocrisy within our own (i can't believe george bush had the gall to go to china and promote freedom of speech. if newscasters started openly calling bush a cokehead/alcoholic liar/war criminal, they'd be fired in NO TIME). and why do people complain about the state of the world but when it comes time to do things like shopping at smaller businesses and spending extra money in poor communities, everyone starts twiddling their thumbs? does the media really have the public this confused?

Yeah they would be fired, because its libel. That's illegal, similarly i cannot say something untrue about you.

And because its easier to say X did this wrong, instead of I have to change some part of what were doing..

Because me changing something requires me to work... which goes against what most people strive to do.

Wal-Mart might sell products made in China, but they employ people from America to sell those products. The corporation you are referring to has American roots. Most companies sell products from China, and a boycott would be near impossible. The media isn't what's confusing America, it's a situation that almost nothing can be done to change any aspect of it. If you have any reasonable solutions, I'm all ears....

Excuse me, but I believe the EASY Button everybody loves to push for BLAME is USA.
