...moving to Seattle in 2009. Lookinig for great neighborhood for straight single woman, hi-rise...?

Looking for 2/b, 2/b apt. downtown highrise or other, great neighborhood, near shops, cafes, businesses and nightlife for SWF, straight, enjoy diversity, lived in SF for 22 years. Self employed. Any suggestions??? Need coffee and a good drink now and then. Bookstores, theater, and music are important as is a great farmers market

Lots of great neighborhoods in the city of Seattle. If you can afford them Queen Anne, Belltown, and Capitol Hill are all good, lots of activity in the area and close to downtown. There are areas not far from UW that are also good, though parts of the university district are a little iffy. Wallingford, Fremont and Ballard are all good and a little cheaper than Queen Anne and Capitol Hill. West Seattle has some good areas for your needs, but it is a little remote from downtown. Capitol Hill (men) and Wallingford (women) have the reputation of being gay, but in fact many non gays live in both areas.

Whatever you do, avoid the East Side suburbs--Bellevue, Redmond, Issaquah--as they are prototypical suburbs designed for families with children and replete with the worst of American kultur--chain stores, malls, traffic, etc. A horrible area for someone like you to live.

Well if I could afford it I would live at the Harbor Steps in Downtown Seattle. Its right by the water front in downtown and really nice. Its highrise also.

Bellevue downtown has many new condos being built, all going for around 400-600K, it is very close to many bars, coffee shops, and there is the yearly strawberry festival

Queen Anne, Belltown, and Capitol Hill ....close to downtown, near to the farmers market (Pike Market), you will love it there!

Wallingford is really nice, check it out

bothell...ideal place
