I have a four year college degree in business. Should I keep working for my retail sales job?

I have worked 6 years for an eyeglass shop...but have also finished my college degree in MIS

Keep working but start sending out your resume.
You have a leg up on the competition as you have been employed. Many in college don't work and are royally screwed when they get their degree. Why the guidance councilors don't tell them to get jobs is beyond me.

Never leave a job unless you have another one, but hopefully your heading toward management in this current company?

If not, then you have to ask why you got your degree and what you really want.

If you do look for other jobs, be hones with your current employer and let thme know you need more opportunity now with your degree and will be slowly interviewing and exploring other companies etc. Unless you are rich and don't need to work, you will want to stay with them. It could take you a while to find the perfect higher level position too. The job market is not good right now.

You do not want to burn bridges, lose your income, or make enemies. 6 years is a long time and you must be very valuable to them. Also you income might be good from this job?? You may have benefits paid.

I would start exploring what is available for a couple months through the internet and local papers etc. Be sure your resume is excellent and up-to-date (you might get help with that for a small fee) this is a big turning point in your life.

Start slowly applying first for a while to see where you stand, and then have the talk with this boss when something looks promising.

Good Luck

If you can have growth at that company and move to a higher position, I would say stay. Do not let until you have secured a position.
