I want to start cloth business?

hi i am from bangalore , INDIA .
i am thinking of starting a cloth selling shop.
I dont have any idea how much profit is there in cloth business
and where to get clothes from .
which clothes are fast selling like (t shirts or casual wears or branded or unbranded )
please guide me in this regard

Well the first thing you have to clear is if this market is saturated or not in your area. Especially in Bangalore, you now have many malls and outlets catering specifically for the high earners who are on the rise in Bangalore.

Second step, know your market. Who do you want to sell to? Do you want to sell to Kids, Women, Men, do you want to sell salwaar kameez or jeans? Do some preliminary research as to what people are spending. Remember Bangalore is now catching up to Mumbai as a fashion concious soceity, so that will influence whether you sell high end branded clothes (i.e. low volume, high margin), whether you sell clothes which are designed similarly to brand names, or whether you want to sell lower quality disposable clothes, (i.e. high volume, low margin).

Its difficult to say which clothes would sell fast without doing some research, but I would say include some staple items of clothing, e.g. if a running women's western wear store, plain coloured t-shirts, classic fit jeans, and comfortable shoes, are a must, as well as selling high end fashionable clothing...

main thing is, do your research before investing in this kind of business..

Very good question but not so easy to answer without more information. I am also considering a new business venture which would include selling textiles and traditional clothing (saris, etc.) . I would suggest contacting your local government business offices or trade councils. Let me know how it goes. I may want to do business with you too!

I'm actually looking into the business myself, and I think I can give you some advice.

First off, it's much easier to start off with designing t-shirts. As in, you won't be designing the "shape" of the clothes but rather the colours, text, and pictures on it.

There are two ways to design t-shirts.

The first, and more professional way, is through screen printing. I do NOT recommend this. You really have to be into the business from the start, and it takes a lot of extra work such as inventory, ordering, etc. Basically, through screen printing you are making a design, then putting it on the shirt yourself.

The other way, which I recommend, is by utilizing a print on demand shop. This is a very simple process that requiers much less work than screen printing, because the website you join takes care of the actual physical labor of creating the shirts. All you have to do is give them the designs. Then, you direct your customers to the website, and once they choose a shirt to buy, the website host makes it at a factory and ships it off to the customer (no work for you!). There are websites already set up where it's very easy to sign up for a free account and set up your own store online. These include cafepress.com, zazzle.com, printfection.com, spreadshirt.com (which is international, so you might want to look into that one first), threadless.com, and many others. But those are the top competitors at this point.
