I have a 8000 sqaure ft. shop that i can open a business. What would be a good business to open? |
Im 20 years old and i live in michigan. This shop has lots of potential, the only problem is i don't know what would be a good business to open up. I have many skills. The shop has a couple offices, a car lift, a paint room to paint cars also. I dont have to open a business with cars it has potential to open anything. Any ideas would help so please share! What a great start! You should do something you love to do. After all, you will probably be doing "it" for many years to come. You may also consider dividing the space into four smaller shops and leasing them out. This would provide you a monthly income. You could still open a business in one of the smaller (2,000 sq. ft.) shops. I suggest you talk to local real estate agents, Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Admin, BBB, etc. Research what products or services are needed in the area. Also, contact one of many volunteer programs that offer mentoring for small businesses. There are several groups that focus on this type of mentoring. If you are 20, I don't know how much money you have toward capital. It also depends on where your location is... Are you in a rural area or in the city? What other businesses are located nearby? You need to decide what service or product your area is missing...give people what they are looking for. For example, if there are absolutely no clothing stores or garages or whatever on that end of town, then I would consider that. How much income do you have to begin with? You need about $50,000 - $100,000 for that amount of square feet to do just about anything, especially if you need to renovate the building.
