Advice For Starting Up A Business?

I've been thinking about starting up a new business for some time, probably down the retail route in clothing. I want to know some good tips from you about what I should consider when starting from scratch.

I.e. - What are the likely start-up costs?
What legislation do I need to consider?
Where to get a loan from?
Where should I get supplies from?
How to get a shop premesis?
Marketing my business?

Any other bits of advice would be useful.

A person starting a clothing store will get their supplies from different companies as compared to someone starting a scrapbooking store. The cost of starting a blog and earning advertising from it is vastly different from the cost of someone who invented a new product and needs to manufacture and market it
