Best Type of Retail Business to open next to Pizza Shop?

I am buying a small strip mall in a fairly high traffic highway in upstate new york. The anchor tennant is a Pizza shop which ahs been there for many years (constant customer traffic). I'm wondering if anyone can give advice for the best type of retail establishment to open next to an established pizza shop. There is nothing else in the area to compete except a car wash and gas station. Thanks

Pizza shops are known for their late customers especially dinner crowds. So it need to be a complimentary item not a substitute business. Ice creme shop, bike shop, video store, etc are good thoughts.

Normally you don't find a location and find a business. You find a good idea then find the location.. with that said.... Sit in front of the pizza joint and see on what day and times ... the type of customers that enter the business. This will give you an idea of traffic as well as demographics. If possible, go ask the pizza shop. They might even collect the data.. Tell them what you are thinking of.

Some shops will co-brand. Meaning that they will expand their area and you share advertising, restrooms, kitchens etc. This is a huge cost savings. Two companies do that here a sub shop and ice cream store. They do well.

a convenience store....
