If you knew for a fact that a business had illegal employees would you boycott?

I have pondered this idea a lot. The problem is I don't know for a fact that the Mexicans or other foreigners I see at business' are actually illegal. If I did know for sure I would certainly deny them my business. Maybe it's a small move to stop this problem but if we all refused them business we could make an impact. It would be great to see all immigrants with pending legal staus/green cards, whatever, required to wear a sign around their necks saying something like....."I'm working on becomming a Legal Citizen". LOL At least we'd stand a chance of picking the illegals out of the crowd and be able to make an informed decision. Business owners that employ illegals and go so far as to post signs suggesting I speak Spanish while shopping there are traitors and don't deserve one dime of my $. I live in a border city and the way it stands now I wouldn't be able to shop anywhere based on appearances. How do we differentiate from legal and illegal based on appearances only?

Yes. I do boycott businesses that I know for a fact hire illegals.
There is an Italian resteraunt here in my small town that makes the best authentic Italian pizzas, sadly I found out for a fact that all of the kitchen help is comprised of illegals. I do not go there any longer, They lost a million dollars as far as I am concerned because I plan living a long time and eating a lot of pizza.
You gotta have the heart to ask questions , dont be rude, simply ask a simple question, most people dont mind answering an honest question, and those that take offense, perhaps they misunderstood you, try again. If they still refuse to answer your question with an honest answer, you may assume that they have something to hide. Not proof, but a good idea of the way things truly are.

You don't base it on appearance only. But chances are if they're in their teens and they don't speak very much english, something is up. Either way, It'd be degradation to request anyone to wear signs stating they're in the process of getting legal citizenship. It reminds me of the star of david that jews wore to be rounded into concentration camps. It'd be an insult. If I knew a business had illegal employee's it'd really just depend on the location they worked and how important it was. Everyone really is only trying to better themselves. That's the only cause of dispute in this world. Someone is trying to somehow make their own world better, perphaps to the blind expense of someone else, and the person at expenditure retaliates. It's a lot easier to have empathy when you look at it from that perspective. Things usually don't go wrong if you focus on creating win-win situations.

Yeah that is a place to start. Since the govt isnt enforcing its laws, we as the people need to make a stand on this issue and get their attention. However, if in fact they are not illegal you may be targeting a business wrongly. Incidently, we support illegals everyday of our lives, we are just not aware of it. We need to bring more awareness, as far as business is concerned.

Absolutely, if I knew for a fact. Those who claim it's racist obviously ignore the fact that illegals come from all colors of the spectrum. It's also key to point out that illegals take away job opportunities from the naturalized immigrants, so this is not simply a xenophobic issue, as some like to decry. Businesses have a legal and moral responsiblity to verify the status of prospective employees, so I feel no sympathy for them.

Tyson Foods is a good one to start with since they have repeatedly been fined for hiring illegals, yet continue to do so. Boycotting is a great idea, but you cannot rely upon appearances to make your decision.

There is an awnser to all of your questions being asked here. Some of them we don't know the complete or real awnsers to them. Even some government officials that are working on this issue also may not know why the feds, or the president or high gov. officials are doing certain things. It could only leave you to think one thing. These people (gov. officials) not only have a legal but also moral responsibility to serve their public resposibilities for the best of everyone else in this country. They may upset a lot of people like you and others, but its in their best interest to do whats best for this country and not do things just without thinking of severe consequences if they were to enforce laws that you are suggesting here. A lot of people will be negatively affected here and believe it or not you would be affected too if certain measures that you are suggesting would even be considered. What would you gain if a business owner were to employ a "legal citizen" paying so much more and eventually raising prices on their products? By the way, I live in the biggest border town in the US with Mexico, and trust me, we depend (meaning this U.S. city were I live) on people coming across the border legally and illegaly. You should see during all holidays how this economy in this city is so dependeble in those pesos turning them into dollars to come and be spent here at the malls, car dealerships, restaurants etc. American people are being affected in a very positive way here. Mexicans acroos the border are not tired of this yet. I mean, people making racial slurs against them (just look in the immigration forum in this page and you will see that it has nothing to do with illegals, the majority are just ignorant people making racial comments) is going to come around one day back. Don't be stupid people, we are bringing down our good reputation that americans "still" have right across the border in Mexico. Ignorant citizens, newscasters and low government officials are doing this exact thing. These people are just creating bad sentiments to our neighboring country. In this time in history, I think we should stop creating new countries hate us instead of looking up to us like they did once before all over the world.

Let's use a bit of logic here. Everyone knows there is a supposed problem with illegal immigration, true. They have not taken the proper steps to enter this country, and are earning a living with manual labor jobs, true. More and more of them are coming (from all over the world), because they continue to find jobs here, true. Americans have no problem hiring them because they'll work cheaper, and longer, true. Employees that work longer and cheaper effect business in a positive way, true.

With all that in mind, if Americans (the majority) actually cared about a business hiring illegal immigrants, business owners would care. However, Americans do not care about who is behind the counter. Americans just want their service fast and affordable. Boycotts in America are a joke. We're a country of individuals. That's why everyone is so appalled by illegal immigration, but they're still coming, we're still hiring them, and the government is in no rush to pass any type of prohibitive law.

Not only would I boycott the business, but I would also report the business immediately, even if I had to involve the media. You can't differentiate between legal and illegal immigrants. That's immigration's job.

Your not breaking a law by shopping there if it were a store as an example. If you just wanted to ban who you felt were abusing the law-you have a right to do so. Some companies are on the web that people would like people to join in Nation wide. Some say Home Depot is one-see web
