NYC shopping recommendations?

I'm taking day trips to Manhattan soon for some shopping. Please recommend stores for me to visit *given the restrictions below*:

1. I am looking for work clothes for a business casual work environment this summer. I am a law student and need to start dressing like an attorney (other than the suits).

2. I am very small. Petites at J.Crew, Ann Taylor, etc. are cut too big for my frame, as is everything at H&M. Things at the Gap (smallest size available) fit me pretty well, but I want to dress nicer than that.

3. I am in my mid-20s and don't want to dress like a 30-something in Ann Taylor. I want to be stylish and age-appropriate.

4. My budget isn't huge. I'd like to spend around $100-$150 per pair of pants, maybe around $75 on well-made collared button-down shirts. (Those limits are a little flexible, esp for a couple key pieces.)

Please help!

Thanks! :o)

Sorry I forgot to mention this -- I have department stores near me already, so I'm loking for places other than that. I'll check out the Macy's at Herald Square anyway since its size pretty much guarantees a better selection than my local Macy's.

Hi Pookie,

i would suggest that you visit Loehmans on 17 street and 7th avenue as they always have great pieces in small sizes.

Century 21 department store is located downtown across the street from the World Trade Center.

also you should walk along 7th avenue in the 30's. This is known as Fashion Avenue and you will always find people passing around flyers for designer "sample sales" such as DKNY, Theory, etc.... as a matter of fact, I recently purchased an awesome Theory suit for $75 bucks.I think that you may like Theory because its *businessy* yet hip and young at the same time. I love these sample sales but often find that the pieces that i like are too small for me... and im a size 4 too! hmph.

have a great time~~

p.s: im a law school hopeful. lucky you.

Check out Macy's or Bloomingdales

The stores in Chinatown carry very small sizes.

I personally love Prince Street. It is the home to many up and coming designers, but you can still find higher-end stores if need be. I highly reccomend it.

Prince Street, by the way, is in SoHo.
