How do i start a small business?

coffee shop, donut shop, day care, clothing (nurse scrubs). i would like to know steps from business license to insurance, how much should i have to spend out of pocket or do i get a loan or half and half.

Go to http://www.score.org/ and in the upper left hand corner, enter your zip code. On the next screen, you will get information on the nearest SCORE chapter. Call them and arrange for a free meeting with a SCORE counselor.

Ahhhh... This is the same question that I have. The best place to start is by doing some research at your local library. There are a ja-zillion "How To Start" books out there. Also, if you are in a major city, try your local SBA office (www.sba.gov). If you plan on trying to get a bank loan, you will need to write a business plan. Take a look at books about that too. First thing is to decide if you want to get into a franchise (where you need to have money to invest with) or create one that is workable from home.

I agree with going to your local library to find books, and you can also try purchasing a small business kit book that also has a cd-rom inside that will also have valuable tools like marketing forms, budgets, goals and more.

Also look at contacting your government's website. They have loads of information for those who wish to start a business & may also have grants & applications to assist you that isn't too wordy or stressful.
