I am planning to put up a computer shop, anybody wants to share insights about this business?

I will try to keep this short.
I had a computer store in Calif for a few years and did quite well. I found it to be the most cash intensive business if you do things right.
Location and hours are a key here. Because most people work during the week and have only weekends off to take care of thier computer problems being open on Sunday is essential. Also being open a little later than your competition helps. You must also be in a location that can be easily accessed and seen.
Depending on where you are in the country, you might wish to seek out computer swapmeets. They provide many customers and contacts. In Calif there are many throughout the state and I did some of my best business there. Plus most of the buyers use cash.
Be sure that you and the people you have working for you really know what they are doing. Keep up with the new technologies and very important, have fun.

just be honest with the customers if what the have is not worth the cost of the repairs tell them ,also dont just grab their machine and whisk it off to the back room we have our workbenches up front where the customers can watch and ask questions

Come on Rochell, this is SUCH a huge question! You know that.

As in any business...1/ Be honest. 2/ Respect the customer. 3/ Be willing to work your *** off to get it off the ground while never forgetting #1 and #2.

If you have employees, keep a good eye on them. They will NEVER care as much as you do.

If you have family/husband/children that are a major part of your life (or vice-versa), dont forget them.

Finally and probably most important: Be humble of, and learn from inevitable mistakes.
