Small business grant?

I am thinking about opening a shop in North London in an area with the second highest rate of unemployment in the country.

It will only be a small shop but will offer two full time possitions.

I read somewhere that you can get some type of grant if you start a new business that creates new job. Does anyone have any advice or info on this?

Thanks

The post code in n8 0bb, green lanes, haringey. Thanks

I will do a search if you can let us know the postcode of the shop.
I found the following:
www.apprenticeships.org.uk (advanced apprenticeships for level 3 training)
www.businesslink4london.gov.uk (advice, help, local knowledge)
http://www.remploy.co.uk (help with employing disabled people)
http://www.lda.gov.uk (London Development Agency - seems to have grants)
www.newdeal.gov.uk (subsidies for employing long term unemployed)
http://www.communities.gov.uk (help with seeing if part time workers would be of use)
www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk (work trial scheme - aims to give unemployed support to see if a certain job is suitable)

I havn't looked in detail at any of these, so apologies if any of them are rubbish, but good luck!

Here is the article related to business grants:
"
Maybe you already called the government looking for grants for your business and were told they,
"don't have grants for business". They may be right that their office does not offer grants for business
but that doesn't mean that the government doesn't offer grants for business. Depending on your state,
I'll show you up to 60 government offices that offer grants to businesses and entrepreneurs, and I can
assure you that they are not the offices you've already checked. The government is too big for one
office to know what is avail able in every office. Most don't even know everything that is available in
their own office!
Receivie Up To $250,000 In Business Grants for:
