*Fake Perfume business in market! Please help by giving your suggestions.?

My father has a perfume shop in a market, and many other vendors in the market are selling fake perfumes which have had a direct impact on those sellers who sell real and genuine perfume including us!

Now you may ask a question:
Why don't you report to the manager or the owner of the market?
We have!, in fact the owner of the market himself came to our shop and promised us that he will remove the fake sellers from his market as soon as possible. But even after a month, he has done nothing, and slowly and gradually, we(my father with whom I work and other real perfume sellers are going out of business. We try to convince our customers, who buy perfumes from the fake sellers, that those sellers are selling fake perfumes but they just disagree with us:(
Do you have any type of suggestions on what should we do?
I chose to ask this question in the Ramadan section because I found the people here more pious and peaceful than others.

I live at a place where it is illegal to sell faked stuff, but it is still done as long as nobody complains.

Not knowing where you are from it is kinda hard to give you an advice because I do not know what laws regarding this subject are taking place in your country.

If it is illegal in your country to sell faked perfume, report the sellers. That's all you can do. Some famous companies like i.e. HERMES have their own lawyers who take care of these things. Check this out with the brands you are selling.

Please be reasured that poeple who know the original will only buy the original. They do know the difference and the prices as well.

To be honest. I bought a couple of faked perfume bottles for "decoration" for one of my guest bathrooms, but I only use the original perfume on myself.

Suggestion: get some of the faked perfume. Spray some of the faked perfume on the customers left arm and some of the genuine perfume on the other. Tell them to have a coffee break and come back after an hour. The faked perfume by then will dissapear while the "real" one can be smelled.

Just an idea because I tried both and expierened that the faked perfume dissapears real quick.

Flea market. Yes you are right about the reputation regarding cheap and faked stuff. Thought you came out of my region:)). Knowing this I think that a woman who is willing to spend some money on perfume is rather going to a reputated perfume store instead to a flea market. But on the other hand, sorry, I do not know to much abotut Americans. To be honest to you, I would not expect any "real" stuff on an flea market anyway.
The only thing you could do is to convince costumers somehow (like the original perfume is cheaper than buying it in a store). Is it any cheaper than an regular stores?

ummm why did you tell on them?? how do you know they are selling fake perfume, maybe they just have better prices?


dont try to run them out of bussiness, have you heard of the clothing line Baby Girl, they are a knock off of Baby Phat, but no one is reporting them. just live and let live

call the perfume company and tell them whats going on. Its worth a shot and they might send their lawyer or some help to u guyz.

maybe people know that its fake, and they like it. if there business is like that then so be .
you and you dad will get what Allah has written for you. other people have to live to and they need money to.
maybe you should do your job and leave people alone to do there job.
if i smell a perfume and like it i will buy it fake or not.

well they cannot steal brand names like vera wang, so that is illegal and they might get sued. Just call the companies that make those perfumes and tell them some one is copyng their products.

Maybe you could sell both types of perfumes. You can display the fake and the genuine. That way they can see the difference. If they still want the cheaper fake kind you will have it to sell to them. Maybe you can even beat the other vender's price with the fake perfumes.

Fake perfume business is a big menace all over and the great trouble of it is that buyers are unaware. They cannot differnetiate the good and the bad... It happens all over.
And since you are in the Flea Market, such competition is but to be faced....
Keep Doing the good work, Allah never lets that go waste..Reputations go a long way in business. If once people understand that you sell genuine prfumes, they will surely come to you....

And yes, you may keep a bottlke or two of the Fake ones and keep showing that to the customers so that they are warned against it. A marble dealer once showed me Translucense of Pure marble by placing a bulb behind it. When he placed the bulb behind a fake marble plate, it came out opaque... You may adopt a similar strategy to shw the differnce to the people...

Since you are in the USA and there is actually laws against selling the fake stuff you can call US customs. When we lived in Tampa there was a man at a flea market selling fake LV, Gucci etc purses and bags and customs came and took everything and arrested him :-s
