I am trying to help a friend out to open his own tattoo business he is tired of working in someone eles shop.?

He hates the way they treat customers and just a bunch of other things. So here is the questions.

What time do you prefer to get a tattoo?
In the morning
afternoon
or at night

When looking for a tattoo parlor, do you look for one that has a comfortable enviroment?

What eles do you look for?






Just to let everyone know, he has been doing tattooing for about 10 years, has his license, and all the proper training. He just wants to open up one. He feels he can offer much more than the shop he works for.

I take my daughter to this guy..who like you has started out on his own due to more of less the same reasons.

Location whilst important is not really an issue, his fan base moved with him......so you can look for larger places that has a lower rent as they are a bit further away.

He is only open from 12 mid day to about 9pm at night with it being a bit later on the weekends and he is closed every Monday...................he said these hours work well for HIS customer base and for most people he will shuffle those hours around if needed.

I would like the front of the studio to be a bit cleaner IMO but the back part is the bit that matters and you could eat off the floor, I think he has so many people hanging out at the front that it can be a bit intimidating for new customers to walk in and see a few "odd" people hanging out.

Have a good tv system set up so the people waiting can watch something.........some of her tats have taken 4 hours so usually the person getting done brings a friend [or mum] and they need to be able to "do" something.

He has a water system for the customers, and a soda machine as well...............maybe a coffee machine would be nice?

Public restroom MUST be clean, as good as the tat area.

If he can and is really thinking about moving, he might want to sound out a few of his regulars, you know mention that he thinking of moving to his "own" place one day.........they will pick up the hint and give him feed back.

I've been thinking about getting one and it would be in the late afternoon. Cleanliness is definitely something I'd be looking for.

When I get tattooed, I look to make appointments in the evening...its much easier that way for me. I also like shops that take walk-ins...sometimes I just want to get tattooed without the appointments. I look for a comfortable environment, yes, but I look for a clean and friendly one. I have been at shops that the people hardly even talk to you and blast the music while they are tattooing, and I found it extremely rude. Other than that, I just look for the portfolios to be displayed, so I can check the artists work out immediately...and just a clean, relaxed atmosphere. I have many tattoos, but for many people coming in for the first one, they just want to feel at ease. Good luck!

A comfortable environment is very important.
I look for someone that is going to help me with what I'm looking for but not over doing it.

I don't have a tattoo but I feel that if I was to get one I would like to get it late afternoon or evening.

I would like one with a comfortable environment, offers privacy for cases of first time jitters or someone wants one in an intimate place, everyone is certified, and there are no incidents of anyone getting infections or other illnesses from the ink or needles.

I liked getting mine at night, the atmosphere was so much better. When I was looking to get the one I got I checked a few places to see how clean they were. I found a place that let me buy a new needle, they opened it right in front of me. That made me feel so much better about the whole thing. I also liked the variety of choices he had there, and the pictures of the tats he has done already to show HIS work, not just some pictures on the wall. Good Luck to your friend in his endevour
