Starting your own tobacco business.?

can someone refer me to how i might be able to get involved with cigars as to start my own store. i have been getting into cigars lately for myself and i like them so much and the history of premium tobacco for cigars that i am thinking id like to start my own cigar shop/ cigar bar. how does one become involved with the cigar families out there. what do you have to do. how about government grants for starting a business, since i dont have any money of my own. can someone push me in the right direction?

You can try the SBA, but they don't provide grants, only loans and if you don't fit their criteria, they will redirect you to a list of companies and individuals who may be willing to help you.

First, check with your local government (city hall or courthouse) about the regulations.

Second, go to the Small Business Development Center office (SBDC) to get advice on starting a business ... you will need a good business/marketing plan. This plan will also tell you how much money you're going to need.

Third, and ONLY third, worry about funding. The first two items above might convince you that this isn't viable. The SBDC will help brainstorm funding ideas, at the appropriate time. There will be no government grants available for this, unless you find a city that's interested in building up the downtown area ... a few cities offer small grants for this.
