Help please i'm looking to make a photo look faded for the backroung of my business card?

I'm using paint shop pro 7, and fairly new to it i want the background photo to look really faded or bleached so that the text on the business card stand out and there is no clash but the picture which is of a volt meter can still be seen in the background.

to make it easer on my self i think i'll leave the background white as is the pic of the volt meter.

would appreciate it if any one could help thanks.

thanks for the awnser i did find the affect poking around but now im feeling a bit more brave by adding a color back round,

i select the magic wand, it does a good job of selecting what i what but a couple areas don't get selected, and when i copy it selects the background white of the image, any ideas thanks.

Pressing the ctrl key will allow you to select more than one area with the wand.

I am into graphics, both from experience (classes and mostly hands on).

In most graphics software applications, you will have the option of Opacity. Find it and work yourself from there. Make sure you save that file as a practice file so that you do not "destroY' the original.
