No more joy in shopping?

Everyday you go out you buy stuff. But the decreasing number of open markets and stores means the idea of negotiation and haggling seems to have gone totally and forever. While I'm here in China, EVERYTHING is up for a haggle over a price. But back in the UK 99% of stores would scoff at any idea of haggling the price, its simply label + money = yes or no. Why have we lost the joy of this part of business? I'm from Southampton and Kingsland market has been severely cut down and Ocean Village also getting killed off. Is that it? Will us British lose the idea of haggling forever in future?

We lost everything original like going to the REAL butchers and the proper bakers, My local butcher always looks so sad when i see him!! no one really goes down to the market where it all started because we have tesco now and though ive tried many a time to haggle if it says 99p for the special pot noodles its...99p for the special pot noodle.ohhh tesco
