Need new office wardrobe under $100. What are the necessities for business casual?

I'm going from waitressing to my first real office job. I need to go shopping, but my budget is very limited (hence: new job!) what should I start off with, what should I wear the first day? Nervous!

Guessing here - dressy pants, conservative shoes, and maybe a blouse?

But for shopping, you should definitely check out Forever 21 and Target. Forever 21 especially has a lot of office-appropritae clothes. Both of these stores have cute clothes for extremely cheap prices.

Nice clean shoes, clean pressed shirt and pants or skirt.

Comfortable shoes and casual dress . Polo shirt, trousers socks .

Congrats!
I would say 1-2 skirts, such as straight or pencil skirts. One black, one gray. Some nice pants, black as well. You want some cute un-revealing blouses also. You can do cute camis with fitted blazers as well. I think H & M has some nice stuff. Dressy capris will work in summer also.

Try solids. Solid color skirt and solid color top.
Clean unscuffed shoes and hosiery.
Do not show body art. That's a new job no no in most professions.
You can find all these things at any outlet store like Marshall's or TJ Maxx. Also Dots or Discovery.
Lots of luck.

DEPENDS ON WHAT THE OFFICE CALLS CASUAL. DO THEY ALLOW DRESS SLACKS? IF THEY DO, THEN A PAIR OF BLACK OR A PAIR OF GRAY DRESS PANTS. A NICE SHORT SLEEVE SWEATER TOP OR NICE IRONED BLOUSE. LOW HEEL SHOES IN BLACK, COMFORTABLE, KNEE HI STOCKINGS. A NICE BLAZER IF YOU CAN FIND ONE AS A BACK UP ON CHILLY DAYS. LIGHT ON ANY PERFUME AND HAIRSPRAYS. CHECK OUT A TARGET, KOHLS, OR A LIZ CLAIBORNE OUTLET. THEY HAVE QUITE A BIT OF OFFICE CASUAL ALSO TRY A FASHION BUG, THEY HAVE A LOT OF SALES GOING ON.

EXPRESS women's has tons of casual business items. really cutee

Invest in some good quality basics:
At least 2 pairs of pants: A black pair of trousers (I personally love the chic look of a tailored wide leg pant.) And a khaki pant (J crew has wonderful ones (check their sales though---I just got a pair for $20---their styles are so classic, that last season's style is pretty much the same as next season--so why pay $50 more?)
2 skirts: One a-line (black would be the most versatile.) One pencil skirt --black or gray.
2 shirts: a tailored white button down long sleeve shirt (Gap's fitted stretch one is nice.) And a short sleeve white button down. Then you can pair the shirts with simple short sleeve cable knit crew neck or v neck sweaters, or sleeveless sweater vests. The long sleeve button downs look great with long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve sweaters.....then roll the end of the white shirt up over the sweater at the ends. The short sleeve white button down will look so cute with sweater vests. Don't underestimate "Target" for work clothes.....they have a ton of really cute sweater vests for under $20. Right now they have short sleeve cable knit sweaters that are Gap/ J crew style for under $20.
Make sure you have lots of dressier knit shirts (t-shirts that are tailored and fitted and can be dressed up or down.) J crew is a great place to find these. Thier "perfect tees" come in pretty much every shape (v neck, crew neck, short sleeve, long sleeve.....) And their boat neck 3/4 length "perfect tees" are on sale for 2 for $40. They are so versatile and flattering. So easy to pair with a simple skirt or pair of pants and look put together and appropriate for work.

Good luck to you! Have fun :)

I bought my first business casual attire for a group project, and it was navy blue trouser pants [$40 from J. Crew] and a blue and white striped long sleeve shirt [$30 from Banana Republic]. Business casual wear is a bit hard to find cheap, in my opinion. But if you have any nice dressy shirts, they'll do!

So the basics are: black trouser pants, a striped shirt, and nice, dark shoes [pumps?] You can mix and match the pants with different shirts. Also look for a knee-length dark skirt and a blazer. I just found dark pin-striped capris at Old Navy for $21.50 in the clearance section! They were adorable too. So I suggest first hitting up Old Navy, TJ Maxx, and maybe Target. Then J. Crew Outlet and Banana Republic Outlet if possible [they have cheaper clothes at their outlets]. But you should probably have plenty of luck at the first few stores. Good luck!
