Do Conservatives feel it's good ethics to have deregulated business and corporate corruption?

Is that a good value? What would Jesus think about unregulated capitalism run amok?

Are Jesus' values in line with Capitalized medicine and pharmaceutical greed, gluttonous wasteful agribusiness and corporate farming, the lust for oil (money), even though there are better alternatives in order to be better 'stewards' of the earth? materialism, and "go shopping" in to fight terrorism?

what do you have to say about that? What did Jesus say about giving to the poor? What did he say about "give up all your possessions and come follow me"?

You really think Jesus would be concerned about a teeny minute amount of money going to poor children which a fraction of a percent comes out of your tax dollars?

Whoa, chicka, whoa! There is no logical connection between deregulation and corruption, so that's not even a valid question.

And what the hell does Jesus have to do with either one? That doesn't make sense at all.

Anyway, if we just look at de-regulation, we see that it opens up the market for more competition, as regulation was often proposed and supported by bigger corporations as a way of preventing competition. So, the fact is that often regulation was the corruption.

But deregulation does not mean "anything goes", and it never did. As public corporations, they are responsible for maintaining their books and accounts truthfully - it is a crime to do what Enron did, for example.

As for what Jesus would think, he might notice that places that had economic freedom and a free market were cleaner countries, with more opportunity, more education, more freedom, and MORE INDIVIDUAL CHARITABLE GIVING than elsewhere.

This last point is important, because that is the Biblical definition of charitable act - to give personally.

Not sure what you have against pharmaceutical companies, because although they do milk medicines for all they're worth, the fact is that they spend very heavily on R&D, and they are also subject to the whims of the financial market.

The agribusiness you are so disdainful of is also the most efficient producer of food, and food at a low price that even the poor in America are overweight, a "problem" that many people in the world would envy.

As for oil businesses, they're neither greedy, nor are they gouging. That's a misconception borne of economic ignorance and class warfare.

I think Jesus taught about personal choices in giving, not governments coming in and taking our money via taxes.

In fact, didn't he have pretty strong opinions about tax collectors?

1) I can pretty much guarantee that I have done more for the poor than you.
2) Exactly what portion of that "tiny" percentage of my check goes to poor children? The government wastes money. If I give personally, I can much better dictate where that money ends up.

The Bible clearly supports a free market and teaches the individual to care for his own needs rather than to depend upon his government for handouts.

I just love it when libs use Jesus to try to help their cause, when they never even have spent one second studying Greek, Hebrew, Biblical history, or real Bible teaching.

Regulated/Deregulated is not the real issue. The question is will they operate in a fair and just manner if you don't watch every move. The answer is, there are too many businesses that would run just like Enron if you did not actively monitor them to keep them honest.

That's a broad brush you're painting with, and I would never speak for all of any group. Yes, capitalism is good. This is a great country, even WITH its faults. How would you like to own a business, any business, and have someone from the government tell you that you have to give all your profits to them, because you're making too much money for yourself, and your stockholders (your family perhaps).? That's Ms. Clinton's idea of governing. Take all Exxon's profits away from them. How can anyone think this is a good idea? Since Jesus gave us thinking ability, and logic (although I think that logical thinking has been lost in this P.C. world), I'm sure He would believe that if you have been blessed with money and material, you would GIVE some of what you have to those less fortunate. WHICH MOST PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO DO. Not take by force or legislation profits made in legal businesses.
