Ever been tempted to peak in to an obese family's shopping baskets or is it just me ?

I feel like telling them to replace all the junk with healthy food for their children, and I know for certain that junk is more expensive than wholesome food. I feel for sorry for the next generation, but it is none of my business, I have bad habits too, what do you think.

No, it's not just you - I do it too, I'm afraid! I also like to imagine the party that will take place when I see a trolley loaded up with beer and wine. Just nosey, I suppose. When I used to have four cats (never again) people would often comment on the enormous amount of cat food in my trolley!

I always look in fat peoples shopping trolly's & baskets to see what they are buying & eating

idk. people are just curious i guess. we are always comparing ourselves to others. it's seriously constant. a lot of morbidly obese people say they don't eat much though. like they say they'll have chicked breast for dinner; that's it. i don't know if i am in the wrong but i find that hard to believe...

my family buys in bulk because we have four teenagers but most of what we buy is healthy. and even when we want unhealthy foods, all the kids PREFER low fat/fat free.

i think it is rather sad actually. i am a strong believer of sports for children at a young age. if kids are introduced to a sport/dance early on, they are likely to keep involved in something active. they have better self-confidence and can model their teamates eating behaviors.

you cannot blame a big six year old for his size because he's never been taught how to eat correctly.

No you're not crazy I do the same thing. Now that I'm buying my own groceries and seeing how much people spend on junk food it just always amazes me; I'll hear them complaining of not enough money to eat healthy but spend $50 on ice cream & chips that they'll finish in ONE sitting. Now I wonder if they look at our cart and wonder what that green stuff is? :-D

There's really no need to peek, because, chances are, we know what's there: processed foods.

One can only hope that one day they'll see the light, or that Gillian McKeith will pounce on them from the fridged foods section . . .

I dont think its really neccessary to do that. Just says how judgemental you are.
And it isnt always true that wholesome foods are cheaper. There have been reports out that say otherwise.
Yes I feel sorry for the children who's parents make unhealthy choices for them, but really its none of your business to be so snoopy by looking into their carts.

If the issue is really feeling sorry for the next generation then it's not just obese ppl that need a lesson in healthy eating. But if the issue is having a weird habit of looking into their shopping carts, then no its not just you, obviously from the answers here you are not alone.

You don't have to peek at a local "fat" family. They shop during the last 45 mins of the shop being open (when it was quiet) and take 2 trollies round, which they then procede to fill to overflowing with junk. And they do this 3 times a week.
They always seemed to come to my till when I was still working.
It's the children I feel for.
It breaks my heart.

If the WHOLE family is obese, it's probably more than just what they are eating.

And I think you're wrong about healthy food being less expensive, pick out a Stoffers meal and a Smart Ones meal and the Smart Ones is like $2 more. Weight Watchers foods are very expensive compared to junk food. Even the cereal is more. And going to a health food store is ridiculous. You'll end up paying $5 for a carton of eggs.

lol its really bad but i do it sometimes too. and if isee an obese mum and daughter for instance going into mcdonalds i feel like going to them and saying "u know u really shouldn go in there" but its wrong to judge i know :-(

No. It's none of my business. And I wouldn't want anyone to analyze my shopping cart, so why would I do the same? My pet peeve is when the weathermen mention the word "Snow" and people shop like they are going to be buried alive, that's what aggravates me.
