Closing our small business. Can employees claim unemployment and/or keep insurance (COBRA possibly)?

Small company - 3 employees (Owner, me & Tech); owner decided to close shop. Are we (me & Tech) allowed to collect unemployment? I have insurance through my husband's plan; can Tech continue company insurance? Doors are closing this Friday, so any help is appreciated!

If the owner paid his state unemployment insurance, then yes. If you were given a 1099 instead of a W-2 then he probably did not. As far as health insurance goes, just call the insurance company.

Well your employee should be able to claim unemplyment too, considering you should have been paying unemployment compensation insurance this entire time. You should call the unemployment place and make sure if you can, and how much, and what you need to do. I suppose it all depends in which state you live in.
