How to sue a stray dog owner?

My sister's frind was attcked by a dog at the mechanic shop before they were open for business. She fell down and suffered deep bruises but treated herself at our home. There wsa no witness but she later filed a police report. can she sue the shop and dog owner.

If it's a stray, it has no owner. Unless the shop owner has been caring for the stray, then your sisters friend is out of luck.

If the dog was a stray then it has no owner there for no one to sue. You can not sue a business owner for a stray dog on their property if it does not belong to them. If a dog guarding the shop got her, she was trespassing and can be arrested for that. With no witnesses or medical treatment she probably hasn't a chance in a zillion.

Does the dog belong to the shop owner? If so the dog was doing what it was supposed to do and that is to protect the owners property. That is why they have a shop dog. Your friend went before the shop was open so the dog was just doing his job. If the dog belongs to someone else then she would have to find the owner, the shop owner would not be responsible. Your friend got some bruises, she wasn't bleeding, didn't break any bones....obviously she was not hurt bad enough to seek medical attention....sounds like your friend is looking for some free money...

The only person responsible for a dog is it's owner. How could she possibly know who owns the dog, if it's a stray?
