Good value UK based domain hosting?

I asked this a few months back, but never got around to actually doing this. I have a domain hosted by a company called Portland, and their service has been woeful, they never answer any emails, and I can't phone them during business hours, so I want to move to a better outfit. I don't want much, I just want my domain name hosting and email forwarding, I don't really need a big website, as I don't really have one, just host the odd file I want to share with people.

Any recommendations?

I use a company called Telivo. The best domain company I have EVER been with. Systems updated straight away, phones answered straight away, everything works as it should but I am VERY impressed with them. Check them out.

Cost me around 30 quid for 1GB of storage- 3 add-on domains, 3 sub-domains etc etc.
Had no problems contacting them, no problems with downtime etc.

1and1.com is what you are looking for.

Cheap isn't always good.

1and1.co.uk is reasonably priced but also maintains superb hosting and fantastic support which most CHEAP companys DO NOT and simply CANNOT provide due to the reuduced income from their low prices.

I would highly recommend spending the extra couple of 拢拢拢's on quality hosting rather than cheap hosting, it's well worth it when you need support and a lot better for your website. For example most cheap hosts have long amounts of downtime, 1 and 1 maintain 99.9% uptime which is brilliant and a lot better than most other companies.

Research is key!

You should definitely consider 1and1 web hosting. Has free 24/7 telephone & e-mail support. Hosting from 拢4.99 a month with free .co.uk domains included. Support is excellent - will talk you step-by-step thro' any problems. Never had any problems or seen any downtime. Excellent value considering all the extras included (over 拢400 of free software, site builders, marketing tools, etc). And they constantly win the Best Web Host award each year in many major Internet-related magazines...
