Does anybody have a business website? (Need info)?

What sort of outlay do you have per year? Any recommendations for web designers, shopping carts, hosting etc.. Thanks in advance.

Thank-you for your response. I'll take a look, and pick the best answer shortly.

I use 1 and 1 internet hosting for my website, ive been with them for two years, starting with the home package at 4.99 a month...it was very good until i needed more bandwidth so moved on to their business package. This gave me 2.5 g webspace and 20gb monthly traffic bandwidth.. As well as this, 1 and 1 give you loads of extras, like statistics, chat channels, newsletter and form tools, database, website builder, dynamic site builders, photo glalery and software worth 拢400 - which includes frontpage 2003 for web designing.

You get 3 domains free of charge and can link another 100 domains to the hosting package as well as 300 subdomainds...

Email is also provided giving you 700 pop 3 email accounts, with virus scanning and spam filters.

Ive also found their customer support to be quite brilliant.and for 拢8.45 a month on this business package yu cant go wrong.

I believe your also interested in shopping carts, which 1and 1 also do, in the form of their e-shop business package at 拢9.99pm....including:

100 MB web space
Display up to 100 items
10 Categories
30+ design templates
The Business eShop is an ideal start if you鈥檙e just beginning your e-commerce venture.

Also included

100 MB web space
10 GB Monthly Traffic included
Online administration
E-mail order confirmation

As for web design, i actually do web designing myself, and quite competitively priced. so if you have an idea of what kind of website your after. and how you want it built, you could give me a shout for a quote...

You could check Yahoo website at the business section. They have different things to check out for those who want to run an e-store or home business. They offer domain names, web page design etc. at very affordable prices.

I used Yahoo's Small Business. You pay $40 a month and a one time start-up fee of $50. They give you a webstie builder that you can do it yourself or have someone else do it for you. I'm building my site by myself and it is frusterating so I'd recommend hiring someone but watch and ask questions so you know how to work it later.

I use supanames as a host. My outlay is about 拢30 a year and is only for hosting and registration. I design my own site, sell a service rather than a product so do not have a shopping cart. Occasionally the service is booked by email, but usually by telephone. I get a significant proportion of my clients through web searches. I've just counted and it's about half. I've found supanames to be a reliable host.

It depends on what type of business website you have. An information website will require different costing outlays as against user generated sites and ecommerce sites.

For web designers, you may be able to find good quality designers at a low price by posting requests for proposals in places such as elance http://www.elance.com and guru.com http://www.guru.com Depending on your budget and your requirements, web design can be as cheap as $250 to as much as hundreds of thousands.

If you have an ecommerce store, you will need a payment processing gateway. Verisign Payflow services, for instance, costs as much as $59.95 per month for maximum of 1,000 transactions plus set up fee of $249.

Plus, you still need SSL digital certificate to ensure secured transaction, which can set you back anywhere from $199 for two years with Thawte or $695 for two years with Verisign.

If you will process transactions manually, you will purchase a credit card payment processing terminal. Verifone Omni 3750, for example, costs anywhere from $398 to $650.

With regards to shopping carts, you have several options:

Free

OSCommerce -- a free open source system based on PHP with tons of features. Easily customizable and works great for users with knowledge of programming.

CubeCart -- a free software that runs on PHP platform. There is a fee of $55 if you remove the copyright notice of CubeCart

Under $100

ClickCartPro.com -- easy to set up and offers great value for its $99 price. Its site has an active support forum for users with questions.

LiteCommerce - basic starts at $95, with additional fees for add-on features.

Shopping Carts for ASP systems

CandyPress -- storefront is free while store administration component is $49

VP-ASP -- price ranges from $195 to $425, with additional fees for optional features

SpiderSales -- price tag is $480.

Other Shopping Cart Systems

Ecommerce Templates - price ranges from $105 to $165, with solutions offered for various server types (ASP/Windows Server or PHP/Unix or Linux Server)

StoreFront -- the set-up for basic system costs $99 while monthly fee ranges from $39-$99.

X-Cart -- A turnkey package based on PhP where web-based step-by-step wizard handles installation. Price is $185

i use statlogic as my hosting company, it's only $4.95 per month, and i have 15GB of space, and 250GB bandwidth. i host and design my own webites, and of course there are alternatives to hire a professional webdesigner which is gonna end up costing you extra. for shopping carts and selling, i use my paypal account which is free.
even though i have my own products to sell, i mostly sell for other sites/company for a commision (affiliate programming). In total every year, all of my business expenses comes to about $520, but i make more than $6,000 every month from my site, so you do the math.
For the cheapest web hosting, try http://www.freewebs.com/millioniare/chea...
One more thing, If you have a website, Google Adsense is a must.
