What is the best webhosting company for a small business?

We want to sell 1 product through Paypal, which web hosting company should we go for? (UK)

I'm shocked that nobody has talked about Ebay. I see a lot of people here trying to sell you things, but in the end if you're a small business you need to sell in the cheapest manner possible to the most people - and the best way to do that would be to build a seller account with Ebay.

Go to http://www.ebay.co.uk and click on "Sell" at the top of the page, there is lots of information for you to get through. They're already linked in with PayPal so you don't have to worry about the additional hassle of money transactions. You will get your own page that you can customise and they will promote your product to the right people.

Otherwise you will have to:

a) buy yourself a domain name (http://www.ukreg.com being the cheapest and best solution)
b) get yourself some webspace (http://www.fasthosts.com being the cheapest and most reliable for small businesses)
c) get yourself a web designer (such as myself at http://www.planetgromit.com )
d) link in an ecommerce system with your bank (although PayPal is a good option, it would seem that if you can only afford to use PayPal you'd be better off promoting yourself as an Ebay PowerSeller)
e) promote yourself in the search engines (which can be extremely costly and not guaranteed results)

I can of course help you with any of the above...but even as a businessman I would recommend that you don't rule out Ebay. You could be doing your business an injustice. I deal with new businesses and large global corporates every single day and more often than not new online businesses fail because they have taken one step ahead of themselves too quickly.

If you would like some *free* advice, feel free to drop me an email by clicking on the link on my website's holding page (as above).

Best of luck with it.
