How can I get my Yahoo account away from Telecom NZ?

I have had a Yahoo account for over 10 years now. Ever since Yahoo sold out to Telecom NZ, the service has been terrible at best. I am getting so much SPAM now and so many connection problems, even though I am on Telecom ADSL, I am considering moving. I would like to keep my Yahoo account, but I don't want the XTRA tagged on the back end. Is there anyway I can get my Yahoo account not to go through XTRA? Telecom already supply an email service - xtra.co.nz, how can YAHOO not see that Telecom hosting Yahoo mail is a conflict of business interest? Is there a connection between Telecoms xtra.co.nz service and the dismal service now offered through Yahoo mail? How do I get my account separated? Or do I have to close and move to Gmail?

Just been on the phone for 2 HOURS to Telecom NZ. After being told that I have re engineered by browser to redirect to Telecom, I managed to convince the support guy that in fact this is not the case and I had to prove they are dynamically redirecting traffic. I hate help centres where they know so little it is laughable support. Can you believe they think I re-engineered IE7 to redirect to their dismal service?
After two hours they gave up, and gave me the number for support for Yahoo USA.

No thanks.

Clearly Yahoo does not give out support or read these forums, they don't deserve my time or business.

Goodbye Yahoo, thanks for 10 years of service, sorry you lost the plot. GMAIL here I come!

What has happened to you is similar to what happened here. Yahoo and Rogers joined. What I did was when I started rogers after they joined it asked me if I had a yahoo account I chose no and it did not link them.

My husband on the other hand chose yes and it lined them, I phoned Rogers and they told me they can unlink them but he needed to phone and they would walk him through doing it.

The other method they told me was delete your yahoo account that is linked to it and start another one and when it asks if you have one say no. It will sever the link.

Good Luck!

Rogers did tell me they could unlink it if my husband phoned them. They said that they would walk him through it, so phone your carrier and have them break the link, they do have that ability. You can also change your country in yahoo but I doubt that will break the link. Good Luck! Report It
