Can you recommend a trustworthy web host provider?

Hi, I want to make my own website for business use, I don't mind paying a reasonably small amount for it, as i have read that free web pages are often plagued with pop ups. I am not really familiar with any web host providers and plan to get a book to help me create my website. I live in uk, if that matters, and need some advice please. Thank you to everyone for your answers. :)

1) www.hostmysite.com
2) www.godaddy.com
3) www.crystaltech.com

www.geocities.com

We use simply.com, it works fine and doesn't cost too much. We bought our names through Low Cost Names, which was nice and easy, but transferring them to Simply was a little annoying. Got done in the end. Suggest get your names from the place you choose to host, it avoids that nuisance.

http://1and1.com

Been with them for over 12 years now, no problems.

I've used www.he.net for years and have had a VERY good experience. Reliable. And on the RARE occasion there was a problem, it was handled quickly. They offer a full or near full linux shell account and use of scripting technologies such as PHP and databases such as your own MySQL database. I've recommended them for several clients and they have been quite good at servicing everyone I've sent to them.

Cost from $10 and up per month.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND 1and1.com - I switched a few of my domains to them and had problems with DNS, had problems to the point where my website was down for a few days. Upon renewal, I fled like I was being chased by killer bees. Their support is awful - and full of people who are great (probably) at people asking the basic questions - but ask them anything that requires real knowledge and all I can do is picture them running around their offices like Rooney and his secretary did after thinking they insulted Sloan's father in Ferris Bueller's day off. If you research them, you'll find that roughly HALF of those who have used 1and1.com have little if anything good to say. Maybe the person here has had a good experience, but it's clear your chances are 50/50.... Put simply - expect to get what you pay for with 1and1.com - crap service with a cheap price. If you don't consider yourself lucky.

1&1 offer a .co.uk domain for 拢1.99 per month (拢2.34 inc VAT). Thats the cheapest package they offer (has 20 IMAP/POP E-Mail accounts, full FTP access, 250mb web space).

You will get professional and free advice from ELOQUEX.com, just call them or e-mail.
They will help you with the site, if you need help and either host it for you or recommend secure and best value for money other hosting company.
Very professional, experienced and unbiased lot they are.
Cheers

I've been with 4UHosting for about 4 years now and I always recommend them to friends, family and clients. Their prices and hosting packages are very good but what makes them really special is that their customer service is absolutely excellent. If you have a problem or need help with anything, they're always on standby.
