How do I get out of going to my work's holiday party?

My job is hosting it's annual holiday party on December 15th. I REALLY do not want to go because first of all I don't really talk to anybody at my job and 2nd I'm giving my 2 weeks notice either a day or two before or the following monday.

How do i get out of going? We get out of work at noon to go to the party but is it actually considered to be during business hours?

tell your boss you had made previous plans.

plus, I wouldn't worry about it that much, if you have another job lined up.

just skip it, forget them, and move on.

call in sick that day

Is it at your workplace or elsewhere? You could say that you have a doctors appt. for that afternoon.

Go to the party. Eat and drink at your company's expense then resign. It's that easy!

Are you a slave? WELL...I don't think so. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do. If you don't feel like going, then don't. I know it's easier said than done, but if you don't like the co-workers, then I would skip it too.

Make other plans that are more important, Maybe traveling to see family for holidays??? Good Luck!!!

I know how you feel. I was manager of a branch office and hosted Christmas parties for about 12 years. They were always great parties. But I always hated to go to my own parties!!!

If you don't want to go, don't go. There's no reason to make yourself miserable. If anyone questions you, just tell them "I did not want to go." And leave it at that. You don't owe anyone an explanation.
