Where do i start singing? ( got the Best voice According to a professional) Plz help!?

Hi, i was into singing in the first place, when i was a kid. My accent is actually pretty good. I've been told to get a job in cnn. I'm not trying to be self-respecting but i sing fabulously good and sometime i can sing louder and way better than celin dion, mariah, and whitney. I'm 19 and a guy but i can sing in Whistle register. And i also have strong voice. Well, i didn't get the chance to think or speak or consult about singing career. I was interested in biology and wanted to go to college. I don't know much about music stuff. But a friend of my dad's who's been in music business for 4o years told me he would be heartbroken if he see me wasting my time in biology after i sang star spangled banner in 4th of july. So what am i gonna do? Should i go to some audition? Where? How? When?
I'm really confused but i really know that i'm gonna make it to the big times soon. i know it's so hard. But i can do this. So tell me what to do, thanks for your time, i really appreciate it.

why can't the professional that told you this help point you in the right direction rather than random opinionated persons?

if the person is truly a professional, they will know the proper routes.

there are many people out there with a lot of talent.. but it comes down to... how is it marketed
