I am being abused by an angry customers who instead of checking for mistakes now has his father calling me...?

I write resumes and have had happy customers. This one though didn't have a resume so I had to make sense of his mess. He then pretended he was someone who was being set up for a resume when I went to consult with him and get payment, so the resume wasnt as well done given we didn't meet. I also didn't know when sending it to him the font altered so a few lines jumped. If not for this I could only work with what he gave me given he claimed he wasnt himself but someone else until I mentioned notifying his boss. He then agreed to pay but still did not meet me.
Now he and his dad are ringing me and abusing me instead of pointing out a mistake I would happily correct. Given the son tried to fake he was someone else so he wasn't available for consultation when others are I see it as he got what he paid for and the extra trouble caused.
The clause says its up to them to check it and make themselves avialable for consutling. I am sick of these calls. I wont be refunding but how do I diffuse it?
Father and son seem to think abusing me is the answer not if the son was dishonest and even as a small business I can make a mistake but it has been the only one. I don't want to be sued or refund, I find unless its a professional they usually try to get out of paying and this is who he is. I only have had happy customers and find the lower paid ones do this and don't appreciate the resume. His resume was an autobiography of his work history and nothing else.
What is the way for me to diffuse this? I did my job, he paid, he got the mess he made but they are also very angry. I didnt know the font etc would be changed in transmission. What is the best thing for myself and them without them thinking they can bully me? He made himself unavialable and is now angry but he tried to screw me to begin with. i am disappointed with the quality but they dont seem to consider human error.

Thanks. Yes my business is legal and I have a business backer. I am winding up the business and I re-did the resume after highlighting the garbled mess he sent me was impossible to work with and he then made himself unavialable through the process so he got what he paid for and created extra work for me. It was easy to see why he can't progress and some people to do anything to get out of paying. A few customers do runners unless they pay up front but most people recognise the quality and come back again and offer to pay for small changes. My insurance covers me and I noticed father and son were both abusive and looking for an excuse. I think he opened the attatchment in the non-printable view so its self inflicted but intellectual property alone is already protected so there is a reason why there is a price attatched. Thanks for constructive feedback. It is not possible to guess someone's entire work history and was a waste of my time.

My opinion is that you owe them a refund. This is true if there are ANY errors on your part, regardless of all the explaining and excuses you have given here. Refund, and get this mess out of your hair.

If they take you to court, the judge will say the same, plus court costs.

If you are doing this work without a proper license, or if you aren't claiming this income, they could turn you in and then you'd have some big trouble. Again I say, refund.

YOU SAID - The clause says its up to them to check it and make themselves avialable for consutling. I am sick of these calls. I wont be refunding but how do I diffuse it?

This is not professional relying on this opt out - if they are lower skilled, less educated they need more help - and you need to be prepared to give it.

I think you are saying that the guy was going to commit fraud of some kind. Can you prove it. Tell Daddo if it does not stop you will speak to the Police.

Check with the Police anyway - constantly harrasing you cannot be legal. If it is try the phone company and report them for abusive phone calls.

Tell them you will only communicate in writing and will not speak to them.

If they are low skilled and uneducated chances are they will not have the money to sue you.

Remember; part of the fault is unfortunately yours - they needed your help and I suspect you may have gotten a bit cranky and just given them whatever. I suggest you add in to your contract that clients must be available for consultation or work will not progress and they will still be liable for payment.

First did you get paid up front ?

Really that does not matter you could always send him the file on a CD or floppy.

I would even suggest you just send him a corrected paper copy of it and be done with it.

If he does not like the corrected version, then he will never like anything you do and it won't matter what you try.

Just right this sale off and go on with your life.

You will always have people that want to get things done for free and they will find any excuse to complain.

I would strongly suggest you always bill in advance and make them sign a contract that states a limit of how many times they can force you to make different corrections.

P.S. Start recording all your calls and documenting everything said then after you have at least 3 or 4 good recordings (Verify they are good and can be heard clearly)
Then tell them if they don't stop calling and harassing you, you will have to file charges with the local police and be prepared to do so.
You might also have a lawsuit against them if they don't stop.

good luck.

I can understand their frustration if you wrote the resume in the same fashion as your argument, for yahoo's answers. Your English is atrocious and you present your argument in an extremely muddled manner. It is very difficult to understand what you are trying to say in this question. But, if I were a business I would want to rectify any problems with my customers; especially if I was a small business.....word of mouth spreads negative influences to potential clientele much more frequently than any positive ones.

I am finding it very hard to make head or tail of your story. However, it seems that you were paid for a job that you didn't do properly as the font altered during transmission and your customer is complaining and harrassing you. In order to stop his phone calls I suggest you give the man what he paid for - a correct resume. I'm afraid he didn't pay for a resume with a human error in it. And the story about claiming to be someone else or whatever that was - it didn't seem to worry you before the phone calls started, did it? Come on, you were prepared to accept his money so it didn't worry you too much, did it? Just fix up his resume and be done with it.
