Where to go for solid letters of recommendation for Psychology grad school (Masters and PhD) |
My undergrad is in Business Administration and that was over 5 years ago. They say to include letter/s from professors on the application, but I haven't been in school in years. I want some quality references without all of them being professional......any advice??? What are the schools looking for? Can you try contacting some of your previous professors? It's worth a shot; maybe one of them will remember you well enough to write a good recommendation. Did you take any psychology classes? Keep in mind that most graduate programs in the sciences require some background in the field, if not a major - my university's psych program requires at least 18 credits in psychology to apply to the program. If you don't have that, try taking a few more undergrad classes as a non-degree student to build up your resume - and maybe get a recommendation in the process. They are looking for letters from psychology professors who worked on research with. Have you fulfilled all the undergraduate psychology courses required for graduate school admittance? And, take the GRE, and advanced psych test? If not you might consider extending your time as an undergrad and doing that. You didn't mention what you've been doing in the last 5 years...anything related to psychology? You might try to get letter's from professionals you have worked with. (college psych professor) |
