ASP.NET Developer Skills? |
I am currently pursuing MCTS: SQL Server 2005. I have some SQL Server administration and development experience in a small business setting. However, I really like working in ASP.NET and creating applications. I also have experience in Classic ASP and some Visual Basic 6 and .NET 2005. My question is what critical skills would I need to pull it off as an ASP.NET developer (i.e. would I need to have the ability to code using notepad, pages on the fly etc.). I guess Im trying to get a feel for the work environment. I use Dreamweaver MX for Classic ASP pages tied to a SQL Server backend. Some job listings say MUST CODE BY HAND. Is this the norm? As an ASP.NET programmer is the demand more data-centric as opposed to any other type? That depends on how you want to get into it. Since you at least know your way around programming, you could get a job as an entry level programmer, working on web development. Once you get some experience you can get a better job if your employer won't move you up. You wouldn't have to use notepad. |
