When is XML and XSLT beneficial in ASP.NET web application development? |
I'm always hearing about XML and XSLT is web development. However, I don't see how it can be beneficial. When is a good instance for using the either (or both) of the technologies? Xml is usually used to store data or pass data between different systems. For example if you want to send data from your .net application to say a linux based system you can use xml as a means to passing and getting data. XSLT is a style sheet for xml. Since xml does not have pre defined tags like html a <table> tag in xml can mean anything from an actual html table or a furniture. Using xslt you can define how the <table> tag in xml will be handled The CSS you use is an example of XSLT. |
