What are the steps involved in the development of a web based application?

We will be using SQL Server 2005 at the backend on Windows 2003 with IIS.

I would give general steps in developing an computer application

1) Design the backend. Get to know what are the characteristics that you would need, making sure that it would be able to deliver accurate information.

2) Design flowcharts. How information would move from backend to frontend, how the information would react and the users manuals. This would make you realize how the frontend would look like

3) Create the application itself and iplement.

4) Testing testing testing. This is the part I hate the most but you could be rewarded beautifully. Testing really should take a long time. Even if you dont see any bugs in the program, test it more extensively. Testing would give your program brilliance if it works.

5) Update the program depending on customer needs

Well , I would think the same as with any application.

Flowchart first to get sequence correct.
Decide which language is most suitable.
Program , debug , program etc
