What facilities (utility and support) can be incorporated during softeware development of an application?

Well, in the case, it's a file and record processing application. facitilies such as ones to take care of addition of data, editing or entries, so on. wat other facilitis do you think can be provided?

Searching/Sorting/If there's some statistical information, A special part for designing some graphs would be great I think/History(Which saves all the actions during the week or more)/Back up part(Which allows the administrator to make some back-ups) etc...
