How to 'draw' in streets - not yet on any (mapquest/yahoo...) online maps ?

I need to give directions to friends - and our streets are in a new development area. I want to take an 'image' of any online maps (for personal use to friends via email) - and 'draw' or add my streets (I only have a mouse; no tablet). What is the best way for me to do this?

I dont have a scanner so I cant scan an image. I can 'draw' using my mouse to make a crude line in some freeware application? I have windows xp home edition.

go to link below it is as close as i can think, i use this for directions...

Take a printout of ur area , draw it and fax it to him ;)

Else give him approx directions, and ask him to call you when he reaches some big intersection/exit!
