What is the high end of athlon 64 processors available in notebooks?

What is the high end athlon 64 processors available in notebooks? I have heard of benchmarks between the athlon 64 x2 and core 2 duo. Intel says theirs are faster in performance and can save battery life, which endures prolonged usage with multiple applications.

I may be buying a notebook during september which is targeted for small business in web development and 3d design visualization.

If you need the highest level of performance, then you need not look at laptops. I really do not know much about AMD Laptop offerings, but I would be surprised to find a dual core Athalon in a laptop -- it simply generates an unreasonable amount of heat to disperse. I think you are probably seeing a Turon (sp?) 64 bit chip, which is not the same.

Intel Core 2 Duo processors (Memron for all the code name fanatics) should be available within a month an does have 64 bit capabilities. Note that the current Intel Core Duo processors are 32 bit. Since Core was designed as a low power (laptop) architecture, it has a reasonable thermal ceiling.

The maximum performance chips, however are Xeon and Core 2 (Conroe) processors, which I do believe would be excessive in a laptop.
